The Iron Nun

"The only failure is not to try, because your effort in itself is a success" -Sister Buder

Sister Buder also known as the "Iron Nun" has the current world record for the oldest person to ever finish an Ironman Triathlon, which she obtained at age 82 by finishing the Subaru Ironman Canada on August 26, 2012.

Today, at 86 years old, she has completed over 45 IRONMAN races, each comprising of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run.

Sister Buder was born on the 24th of July year 1930 in St. Louis Missouri, USA.

Nike : "Sister Buder’s introduction to sport came just seven years before her first race in Hawaii, when she attended a workshop on the Oregon Coast that was led by a priest who championed running as a way to harmonize the mind, body and soul. Sister Buder took this creed to the extreme, burning out on the sport before discovering the variety of the triathlon. Her physical endurance she attributes to listening to her body and maintaining a positive mindset. 1st Air Born Baby of Cebu Pacific

As stated in Cebu Pacific's website..." Cebu Pacific celebrates the birth of a baby girl, born while the aircraft was halfway from Dubai to Manila. This is the first time a baby has been delivered onboard a CEB aircraft."
As Lance Gokongwei, CEB President and CEO stated... "To celebrate this momentous occasion in the life of one of our passengers, CEB awards Baby Haven one million GetGo points, which she can use to fly with us for free."
Additional information from Cebu Pacific website: "Baby girl 'Haven' was born approximately four hours after the departure of flight 5J015 from the Dubai International Airport last Sunday, August 14, 2016. CEB cabin crew, along with two registered nurses who were also passengers on the flight, assisted with the delivery. The flight diverted to Hyderabad, India, to ensure the mother and baby received medical assistance."
This was also witnessed by Ms. Missy Berberabe Umandal, a passenger seated near to them and the owner of the photo above.
For those wondering why this pregnant mom was allowed to take that flight, well let's take it from Cebu Pacific's statement on FaceBook..." On all flights, expectant mothers with age of gestation thirty-four (34) weeks and beyond are required to present a medical certificate with the notation "Fit to Travel" and signed by a physician. Except for flights to or from the United States, the expectant mother must complete her travel within the validity period of the medical certificate which should be ten (10) days from date of issuance"
Baby Haven's mother was only on her 32nd week of pregnancy so Baby Haven was born prematurely.

Both the mother and the baby was doing well. According to Ms. Umandal,"Moments later, the woman got up to go back to her seat, baby in arms ".

What a blessing for them! My two lovely daughters were delivered both through ceasarean operations.

Additional blessing is that baby Haven's one million GetGo points has no expiry and can be shared with her family. By the way, GetGo is a Cebu Pacific Airlines' lifestyle rewards program.

"Welcome to this world Baby Haven and congratulations to your family!!!" A warm greetings from heydidyouknowthat.blogspot.com
